Description[edit | edit source]
The Barrishee is a mechanical abomination that appears to be comprised mainly of mud brick and rotten wood. It drags itself along with its arms as it moves. It lacks a leg on one side, replaced instead by a large wooden gear that revolves as it moves - on the other side of its body is a large, flat wooden foot. This gear also turns another gear in its midsection. Its face resembles the runes seen on Dungeon Doors, and its teeth possess a similar yellowish glow. The Barrishee is very large in size, taking up the width of the tunnels in which it is found - it also features a prominent crest around its head.
The Barrishee spawns when the correct combination is entered in or a Rune Door Key is used on a Dungeon Door Mimic, found in the fourth layer of the Labyrinthine Vaults; the door will collapse onto the ground in front of it and a Barrishee will be found waiting behind it. When it is targeting a player, it will periodically scream, emitting a red shader effect around it and breaking nearby blocks - this scream will also cause urns inside of Dungeon Alcoves to break, spawning aggressive Ash Sprites.
Outside of its normal melee attack upon contact, the Barrishee has two other attacks it can use.
- It will scream and emit a sonic blast in front of it, dealing damage to the player and knocking them back
- It will slam the ground, sending a small shock wave similar to those created by the Shockwave Sword at the player. This will deal damage and knock the player up slightly if hit. It can be avoided by quickly dodging to the side or jumping into the air.
Upon death, the Barrishee has a chance to drop a Rune Door Key and a Life Crystal, making it a dangerous but rewarding foe. Opening the Dungeon Door Mimic will also grant access to the Barrishee Lair, which contains a double chest filled with loot, including a Ring of Gathering, and an Ancient Battle Axe embedded in the mud.
Strategy[edit | edit source]
At a searing 200HP, it's very likely that that the Barrishee will catch you off guard, scare the guts out of you, then kill you. If you want to destroy this abomination (rather than running for your life and avoiding the fight altogether), then first, it will let out a terrifying roar while it will glow red, breaking a few blocks. Keep in mind this can (and will) set some ash sprites free. It's honestly best to just ignore the sprites and focus on the Barrishee, cause if you attack the ash sprites, then you will notice that it's already killed you once you're finished with the imps. Its other attacks are mauling you with its sharp claws and making a shockwave. It is also mandatory to bring a shield, and basilisk arrows help, too. Attacking at melee range is risky, but worth it as it will be way faster than to kill it with arrows, and seriously, have some valonite armor. You're going to need it. It's best to hit it with basilisk arrows, hit a few times, run then repeat. A few laps of this and that thing is going down.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- The Barrishee's model originally lacked a head crest - it was added so that it would block the player's visibility and make it appear more intimidating.
