Sulfur can be obtained from filtering Stagnant Water with a Mesh Strainer in the Water Filter.
Drops[]
Sulfur drops from breaking Sulfur Ore with any pickaxe.
It also drops from Pyrads upon death.

Sulfur can be found as Loot from:
- Pots of Chance in the Cavern and Lake Cavern layers, Marsh Ruins, Underwater Ruins, Underground Ruins, Cragrock Towers, and the Wight Fortress.
- Urns of Chance in Sludge Plains Ruins and the Sludgeon Tower, Labyrinthine Vaults, Barrishee Lair, and Crypt of the Sludgeon.
- Dungeon Alcoves in the Labyrinthine Vaults and Crypt of the Sludgeon.
- Weedwood Chests in Idol Head Statues, Shrines, Cragrock Towers, the Wight Fortress, and the Labyrinthine Vaults and Barrishee Lair of the Sludgeon.
Uses[]
Fuel[]
Sulfur can be used as fuel for any Furnace (including the Sulfur Furnace or Dual Sulfur Furnace), smelting 8 items per piece.
It can also be used as fuel for several other utility blocks:
- For the Purifier, purifying 1 item per piece.
- For the Animator, animating 1 item for a varying number of pieces (depending on the recipe).
- For the Censer, providing about 5 minutes and 18 seconds of effect time per piece.
